Hello, I’m Sophie
I oversee projects. I’m a parent, and I’m an expatriate living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the grand plan. Like many international moves, it started with a job opportunity and soon grew into much more.
The early months were challenging — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt solid.
Why I Created Hollow Ridge Key
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice based on real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever real changes occur
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism board resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Netherlands continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep sharing what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
Sophie
